Khichdi

Steps:
1. tempering in groundnut oil with mustard seeds
2. add 1 cup of chopped vegetables, 1/2 inch chopped ginger, 1/4tp turmeric powder, 1/2tp red chili powder, 1/2tp Garam Masala, 1/2tp coriander+cumin powder and fry
3. add soaked (1/2-1 hour) and rinsed 1/2 cup red lentil
4. add 4 cups water
5. add 1/2 cup rice
6. when half cooked, add green peas
7. if necessary, add some more water to make it moist and salt as per the taste
8. garnish with coriander and grated fresh or (preservative-free) desiccated coconut
9. serve with ghee and pickle (made in mustard oil)

Please cook over a low flame.
