Tilache Ladu
Makar Sankranti is a festival for harvest in India and it is celebrated in the month of January every year. There are many recipes for this occasion which mainly consist of sesame, peanut, and jaggery. One of the important recipes is Sesame Laddu which I am sharing here.
Ingredients:
- Sesame seeds: 1 cup
- Grated Jaggery: 1/2 cup
- Roasted crushed peanuts: 1/4 cup
- Ghee: 2 tablespoons
- Cardamom powder: 1/4 tablespoon
Process:
- Roast the sesame seeds on a low flame for 2/3 minutes, until they change their color to golden, and keep them aside.
- Once they are cool, grind them and make sesame powder. Do not over-grind the sesame seeds.
- Roast peanuts until they get spots on them, and grind them.
- Mix sesame powder and peanut powder in a bowl.
- Take a steel plate/ on a flat surface, and apply some Ghee.
- Heat the pan, add jaggery, and keep stirring on a low flame.
- Once the jaggery starts boiling, add sesame seeds, crushed peanuts, and cardamom powder and mix them well.
- Rub some Ghee onto your palms and start making small balls/ laddus of the hot mixture.
- These laddus should be eaten within 1 month.
