Recovery

I went to watch the famous Marathi movie ‘Faster Fene’. While climbing down the steps, I missed one step and banged my leg on the edge of the step, the result was a compound fracture.

I had vitamin D deficiency and I had not done anything about that so the doctor advised me to take sachets of ‘D Rise’ for 6 weeks, one each week after dissolving one sachet in milk. I followed his advice and also I used to sit under sunlight.

I could not digest calcium tablets so the doctor advised me to discontinue the same and have calcium-enriched food instead. If the injury is not healed, he would have to fix it.

I focussed on my diet. I was lucky to find a cook who used to give me tiffin daily. I requested her to make Ragi roti of calcium and vitamin D-rich diet.

For bones, Vitamin C is also vital. As I am allergic to most of citrus fruits, I started to eat papaya which is high in Vitamin C. My aunt Vrinda also shared with me one recipe for healthy bones/joints.

I recovered on my own and the total credit goes to my husband who took care of me, the cook who made Ragi rotis for me, and my aunt Vrinda who gave me the recipe for chia seeds and white gondh drink.
