Home remedy for dark circles

Dark circles around the eyes are caused primarily due to lack of sleep, frequent cold, stress, or deficiency of iron. I would like you to try the following remedies for your eyes and check if this helps.

  • Adequate sound sleep at least 5/6 hours per day will reduce puffiness under the eyes and dark circles.
  • If you have a cold and nostrils are blocked most of the time, dark circles may appear. Before you go to bed, put 1 drop of lukewarm ghee/ sesame oil in your nostrils. You can sit or do some sort of exercise in the sunlight. This will help to clear the nostrils and breathing through the nose will reduce dark circles.
  • At times, it’s my observation that stress is responsible for dark circles. Take a walk after dinner with your friend or a family member and do try talking about the topic that bothers you. Create a pleasant atmosphere in your sleeping room such as lighting a candle, playing soothing music, and taking a bath with scented oil, bath salt, and lukewarm water before going to bed.
  • Iron can be consumed by eating 2 dates per day, Rajgeera/amaranth laddu, beans, peas, nuts such as cashews, almonds, or an apple when in season.
  • In beauty parlors, I have seen beauticians putting slices of cucumber on their eyes.
  • You can apply pure almond oil around your eyes before sleeping. You can massage gently but not roughly as the skin around our eyes is soft and delicate and rubbing this skin may cause wrinkles.

I tried following almond oil which gave me good results. This is available in a chemist shop in India or you can order by clicking on the following link.
