Paneer fry

Paneer is a fresh, non-melting cheese commonly used in Indian cuisine. It is made by curdling milk with an acidic ingredient like lemon juice and then draining the whey.

Butter Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Tandoori Paneer Tikka are popular dishes frequently featured on the menus of Indian restaurants.

We are making a quick and easy paneer dish – Paneer fry.

Marination Ingredients:

  • 200gm small paneer pieces
  • 1 tbsp curd (yogurt)
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • ½ tsp Garam Masala (a mixture of ground spices)
  • 1 tsp paneer fry masala (optional)
  • ½ tsp crushed ginger
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1 big garlic clove (crushed)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • Salt (as required)
  • 2tbsp unsalted butter for frying the paneer

🧄

Process:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all the marination ingredients to form a smooth paste.
  • Add the paneer cubes to the mixture and coat them evenly. Let them marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Heat butter in a pan over low flame and fry the marinated paneer until it turns golden-red.

Additional Note:

  • All these spices – (cumin powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, Garam Masala, and paneer fry masala) are commonly found in Indian grocery stores. They are often available in bulk or larger packs at lower prices compared to regular supermarkets.
  • Please do not mistake red chili flakes for red chili powder.
